Jenn Monroe is in love with the limitless quality of words. She writes poetry and creative nonfiction and teaches writing and literature courses as a full-time member of the faculty at Chester College of New England. A native of Western, NY, she lives in New Hampshire.

Something More Like Love Available for Pre-Orders

Something More Like Love, the first chapbook by Jenn Monroe, is available now for pre-order from Finishing Line Press. The ship date is scheduled for Dec. 3, 2011. Something More Like Love examines love and its many facets. "Jenn Monroe's poetry finds its wellspring in divine reality in which everything moves through and out of love," writes Barbara Louise Ungar, author of Charlotte Bronte, You Ruined My Life. Jenn Monroe to Read in Datum:Earth Series

Jenn Monroe will be one of three featured readers in the Datum:Earth New England Reading Series at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 16 at in Keene, NH. The event also features poets Ivy Page and Tucker Sampson. All three are graduates of the MFA in Poetry program at New England College.

Jenn Monroe is the featured poet for January at the new literary journal 12Poets.com. Created by poet Ann-Marie Madden Irwin to showcase emerging poets, the journal features 12 poems by one poet each month.

Jenn Monroe to Give Faculty Reading

Jenn Monroe will give a faculty reading as part of Chester College of New England's 2010 Visiting Writers Series. She will present new work at 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 15 in Powers 29 (the fireplace room). Joshua Blanchard and Meg Cameron, two Chester College students, will open the evening. The event, which is part of the Department of Writing and Literature's Visiting Writers Series, is free and open to the public.

"NO DIVING" among Top 50 PAD Challenge Poems

Jenn Monroe's poem "NO DIVING" is among the Top 50 written during the 2010 Poem-a-Day Challenge hosted by Robert Lee Brewer on his Writer's Digest blog "Poetic Asides with Robert Lee Brewer". Brewer selected the Top 50 from more than 1,000 submissions, all written during the month of April. For more information, check out his blog and watch for Jenn's poem to be posted within the coming months.

Something More Like Love a Finalist in Chapbook Contest

Jenn Monroe's chapbook, Something More Like Love, was a finalist in the 2010 Midnight Sun Chapbook Contest sponsored by the literary journal Permafrost. The poem "Hurricane Honeymoon," which is part of the collection, was selected for inclusion in Permafrost Volume 32, which will go to print in June. The winner of the contest was Richard Sonnenmoser's Science-Magic School and the other finalists are Molly Sutton Kiefer, Matter Schumacher and W.F. Lantry.
